Salvador’s first luxury hotel was as iconic as the distinguished guests who have stayed there over the decades. Opened in 1934 in an Art Deco building inspired by New York’s Flatiron Building, it occupies an equally historic address: Rua Chile, Brazil’s first street and, for decades, the most elegant address in the capital of Bahia.
A story like this deserved to be preserved. Antonio Mazzafera, CEO of the Fera Group, believed this and invested in a meticulous restoration process that honored the building’s history, returned it to the city, and prepared it for a new era.
