Built to house the famous Palace Hotel, the building—inspired by the skyscrapers rising in New York in the 1930s—has witnessed periods of both prosperity and decline in the region. Since its most recent reopening in 2017, after being purchased and restored by the Fera Investimentos group, it has regained the reputation of what is considered the first luxury hotel in the capital of Bahia.
